Electronics foundry Jabil has announced the acquisition of Mikros Technologies, a provider of liquid-cooling solutions, and Jabil says Mikros' thermal management capabilities will help them improve the performance of their existing data center solutions.
Ed Bailey, Jabil's CTO, said the acquisition will expand Jabil's business offerings. In addition to the data center sector, Mikros' solutions have significant opportunities in many other end markets, including automated semiconductor testing, batteries, energy storage, electric vehicles, etc. Mikros' patented microchannel cold plate design can be used in complex, high heat-flow applications, supporting heat dissipation of up to 1Kw per square centimeter. Dave Matter, the company's CEO, said in a press release that joining Jabil will allow their advanced liquid cooling solutions to better meet the heat dissipation needs of the world's leading manufacturers, and to be able to work with first-rate talent.
