Developments, Obstacles, Opportunities of FTTH in Mainland China: a Year 2006 Review

Abstract:
    This report is a basic review of Fiber to the home (FTTH) development in mainland China in year 2006. We discuss from total broadband environments, government policy, to telecom services providers’ attitudes, also the projects of FTTH solution providers. We also publish a survey result about FTTH in China for the first time in this report.

I Introduction
    Fiber to the Home(FTTH)is still not a hot topic in mainland China now. But in some cities, especially in optical communication field, it is already very hot now. In year 2006, there are more than 5 special FTTH forums hold in China, much more articles about FTTH are published on communication magazines. In history, FTTH in China never become such a hot topic like in year 2006.
    But Fiber to the Home is still in her early developing stage in mainland China, there are still many big obstacles ahead.
    In this report, firstly we try to give a basic description of affecting factors of FTTH developments in mainland China in the past year, including government policy, telecom service providers’ attitude change, and the total environments change. Secondly, we will demonstrate chief FTTH developments through recent projects of FTTH solution providers. Thirdly, we will publish the result of our FTTH survey of more than 100 important FTTH policy maker, advocator, system integrator, related product manufactures for the first time. This interesting and informational survey must be very helpful for readers to understand the real situation of China FTTH market in the near future.
