Glasgow, Scotland:  04 August 2026: Vector Photonics, the Scottish scale-up which is pioneering the use of photonic crystal surface emitting lasers (PCSEL) in secure communications, is heading to Taiwan as part of Innovate UK’s Global Business Innovation Programme (GPIB). The initiative consists of a preparation phase followed by a five-day tailored programme to connect with key stakeholders and leading Taiwanese companies. Vector Photonics and the other delegates will later showcase their technologies at the UK’s pavilion at SEMICON Taiwan. The programme will provide a unique opportunity to find partners and identify opportunities for technology collaboration.

Vector Photonics’ CEO, Dr Richard Taylor comments: “PCSELs are an enabling technology for next-generation optical communications in growth sectors such as data centres, satellites and LiDAR. Therefore we expect great interest from major Taiwanese companies in Vector Photonics’ commercially-ready PCSEL products.”

Previous Innovate UK GPIBs have proven very effective in opening up the Taiwan market for ambitious UK companies such as Vector Photonics. Although home to the world’s biggest semiconductor manufacturer, TSMC, Taiwan also has a strong SME sector, and its ecosystem is supported by organisations like the Industrial Technology Research Institute, which plays a crucial role in the growth of Taiwan’s high-tech industry. SEMICON Taiwan 2026 will be held from September 2-4 at the Nangang Exhibition Center in Taipei, with forums beginning on August 31 to align with International Semiconductor Week. Vector Photonics will be on Booth I3000.
